Would you like to add a visit to the pyramids to your Red Sea vacation? You could take a day trip from the resorts, but these trips are usually quite strenuous and not very budget-friendly due to the long distances involved and are typically conducted in large tourist groups. Alternatively, you can stop in Cairo on your way to the Red Sea and explore the pyramids in Giza and the new Museum of Egyptian Civilization, which houses mummies, sarcophagi, and tomb treasures. During your stop in Cairo, you can also savour authentic Egyptian cuisine at selected local restaurants and visit the largest market, Khan Al-Khalili.
Day 1: Arrival to Cairo
Upon your arrival at Cairo Airport, a representative from the RTS agency will be there to greet you. They will transport you to your hotel, assist you with check-in. You will also discuss the start of your tours for the following day. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: Full day of Sightseeing in Cairo
After breakfast, your guide will be waiting for you at the hotel reception at the agreed-upon time and will take you to the Giza Plateau, where you will see the iconic pyramids known worldwide. This includes the Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Great Pyramid of Khufu, which is the largest and oldest, as well as the smaller pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure (entrance to the interior of the pyramids is at an additional cost). You will also visit the mysterious Sphinx, a giant statue with a pharaoh’s head and a lion’s body.
Following lunch at a local restaurant, you will explore the Museum of Egyptian Civilization, where you will be able to see mummies, sarcophagi, and tomb treasures. Afterwards, you will take a tour of Old Cairo, including a visit to the famous Khan Al-Khalili market. You will have the opportunity to see Al-Hussein Mosque as well. The day will conclude with dinner at a local restaurant serving traditional Egyptian cuisine. After dinner, you will return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 3: Departure from Cairo
After breakfast, check out from the hotel (no later than 11:00) and enjoy some free time until your departure to the airport (typically 2 hours before your domestic flight or 3 for international flight). At the agreed-upon time, a representative from the RTS agency will be waiting for you at the hotel reception. You will be driven to the airport, where they will assist you with the check-in for your flight.
This marks the conclusion of your trip with a flight to your chosen destination.
